Contact and About Me

Justin Hand-Gregory

Hi there! Thank you for visiting my website. I'm a freelancing, Montreal-based, multidisciplinary design artist with a focus on helping small, local businesses gain access to affordable and fast design services.

I am also a Communication and Media Studies scholar, and student, with a specific interest in color theory and cultural design. If you're interested, I invite you to take a look at some of my writing, located in the "more" tab.

The best way to contact me is through e-mail:

Montreal graphic designer for hire

Can you rush projects?

Yes! If needed.

What is the average price range for your work?

The reason I don't display prices is because it can vary greatly depending on the project. However, on average, it takes me 2 hours to complete a logo presentation (6 logos).

Do you charge per project, or per hour?

I charge per hour. However, if you prefer paying for an entire project, this is possible.

Do you offer other services beyond what you have listed on your website?

Yes! I also have experience with: copywrite, video editing, on-set production assistance and industrial design.

Which softwares do you use?

The software I use greatly depends on the type of work needed. However, in general, I switch between Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Dimension. Occasionally, I will use Adobe After Effects

Do you offer graphic design lessons?

I am currently working on an online design workshop. Please contact me if you're interested.

Have you received any formal design training?

Yes! I spent two years learning design at the college level. The rest I have learned on my own.

I had always struggled with a career choice. Growing up, some things interested me, however, nothing quite struck a chord; that is until I was introduced to graphic design in College. Playing with colors and fonts, aligning text and placing images, it was all so exciting (well, to me anyway). I knew this was something I had to do the moment I completed my first assignment.

I thought about enrolling in a fancy graphic design school, however, I felt as though I could learn more on my own (through books and YouTube lessons) than I could in a classroom. I bought one book (Graphic Design Thinking, edited by Ellen Lupton) read it and loved it. So, I bought another and another and you get it... until I had a pretty firm grasp of the craft. I then began to study the work of the 'greats,' like Paula Scher and Steven Heller, and took note of their distinct styles.

Today, I have proven myself as a designer having created over 20 brand identities. However, my hope is to create many more. I am in a constant state of curiosity and I always look for opportunities to learn more! I'm fascinated by just about anything you put in front of me because I know that somehow everything seems to interconnect at some point in time, especially in this industry.

On a more personal note, I'm a BA student in Montreal, Quebec in the Communication Studies program at Concordia University. The program, I'll admit, is a bit odd because everyone generally has one of two preconceived ideas: we learn how the telephone was built, or that the program facilitates managing some company's Instagram page. Both of these are not necessarily false, however, I'd like to think that I'm getting more of my money's worth than that.

To end on a get-to-the-point note, clients generally enjoy working with me because I always deliver high quality content in a very fast timeframe. I am also very easy to communicate with and will never miss a deadline. I don't display my personal number, however, if we start a project together, you will always be able to give me a call or text. So, with that said, if you like my work and are looking for a designer, please do get in touch with me and we will figure out something together.
